What sets us apart.
The core problem of non-core business
For many forwarding companies, project logistics is just one of many services offered- squeezed in somewhere between aircargo and seafreight, continental trucking, contract logistics... For them it's a niche- for us its core business and our company has been geared towards project logistics like very few others are.
Some forwarders believe that simply being a forwarder by profession means being able to plan and handle complex plant jobs anywhere on earth. We don't.
Among our total staff are more than 50 dedicated project forwarders who have proven time and time again that they are able plan and handle complex plant projects on a global basis even against daunting technical and administrative odds- on time and within budget.
Some forwarders think that sheer size matters. We don't.
Being a medium-sized company, our lean organizational structure with few levels of hierarchy allows for fast + efficient decision-making. Where others still talk, we act.
Some think that only a large workforce can handle multiple projects. We don't.
Our team has been -and is- regularly handling 6-8 major jobs at a time (successfully) in parallel, giving an indication on the proficiency of our team and the efficiency of our organisation.
Planning + Performing with
Some forwarders believe that planning + coordinating complex goods flows inherent in major industrial plant projects can be done by courier-type tracking systems. We don't.
We are very much aware that making sure we know where every last part of every last order is, forms an important part of any clients evaluation of our capabilities. Over the last years, we have developed a dedicate, industry leading tracking and tracing system that does exactly that. It's in many ways, over and above the standard courier- type simple AWB tracking systems that many forwarders use. (Again because they feel that project logistics is not important enough to warrant a dedicated system.).
Our system is 100% in-house developed and supported, which ensures we are able to tailor the system to suit every simple project we do. It has been one of the few such systems to completely interface with clients' own procurement and material management systems, using in-house-developed software applications tailored to the requirements of complex international logistics projects.
A lot of people talk about global networks these days. Many of them believe that the best approach to ensuring efficiency within the network is to rely on a worldwide chain of own offices. We don't.
We constantly come up against the global list of multinational forwarders, all with own offices in most cities around the world and claiming project capability. Its often proven that all but a few of those offices have little but general cargo experience and as such, in fact offer only a limited style of operation.
We work with partners that we want to work with because they are qualified and trusted. Others work with their own local offices because they have to, no matter whether the local team is capable of handling projects (as compared to regular air, sea or road cargo) or not.
Our international network of competent partners ensures the professional handling of your goods in any part of the world.
LPL has been working successfully for years with all partners nominated for this project.
Some forwarders think that only large staffs guarantee experience and efficiency. We don't.
During the last 5 years, our team has handled -or is still handling- 30 major industrial plant projects, several of them exceeding 130,000 FRT. Several of these were / are integrated logistics packages from EXW various worldwide suppliers to CFR port of entry or DDU site, often including erection. Heavy Lifts over 500 tons, 70 m long and 8 m wide were / are common in these projects.
Countries of destination were highly diverse and include e.g. Australia, Bulgaria, Chile, Indonesia, Iran, Libya, PR China, Malaysia, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Trinidad, Turkey, the USA, the UAE and Qatar.
To sum it up.
It is this unique combination of competent people, efficient processes, tailormade Project Monitoring Systems, a high-quality presence worldwide and its extensive proficiency in project logistics that makes LPL the partner of choice for many leading engineering companies and plant maufacturers like ABB, Alstom, BASF, Belleli Energy, CMC Ravenna, Daewoo E&C, Danieli, Enel Green Power, Endesa, Foster Wheeler, GE Power Systems, GE Nuovo Pignone, GEA, Hitachi Power Europe, Iberdrola,Linde, Lurgi, MAN Ferrostaal, Repsol YPF, Sidem, Siemens, Solvay, Techint, Technip, Tenaris Dalmine, ThyssenKrupp, Uhde, VAI Pomini and VA Tech to name but a few.
